Thesis Project: 3D Analysis of Brain Vasculature
This thesis project will focus on the vessel classification and quantitative analysis of the vasculature in 3D images of cleared brains. The student will develop or apply computational image-analysis workflows to classify vascular networks and measure parameters such as vessel length, vessel density, and the number and distribution of branching points.
These features will be compared across different ages to investigate how the brain vasculature changes over time. The project is particularly suitable for a student with an interest in biological image analysis and some computational experience, for example in Python, MATLAB, image processing, or data analysis.
Duration: 3–6 months
Supervision: Hanna Preuss (PhD student) and Lukas Glandorf (postdoc at UZH/ETH)
