The ROSE study
Effective stroke prevention hinges on accurate risk stratification and etiological diagnosis. Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCT-A) has emerged as a powerful, non-invasive tool to visualize the retinal microvasculature. ROSE is designed as a single-center, prospective, observational cohort study.
The ROSE study has two primary aims: (1) Risk stratification: To investigate differences in OCT-A parameters across various grades of carotid artery stenosis, aiming to demonstrate that OCT-A can detect subtle hemodynamic impairment at a stage where standard Doppler sonography still shows no signs of hemodynamic compromise. (2) Stroke etiology: To improve the determination of stroke etiology by developing a multimodal classification model that incorporates a retinal "etiological fingerprint" from OCT-A.
